Race Route

Start and First Run Section (4km)

The race starts in the Porchfield (600m from Transition and Registration).  Runners will follow a marked course with underfoot surfaces including grass, trail and pathway.  They will follow a course around the porchfield then turning right along the River Boyne.  The next turn will bring runners onto the hill section of the course. They will continue up this hill and run around the Yellow Steeple Tower and then back through the open gap into the Porchfield where they will turn left and continue running along this marked trail. When running towards the river Boyne they will be directed to turn right and will begin to run back towards the foot bridge, keeping the river on their left hand side.  They then run across the footbridge and left again to come back to the transition area.

Cycle Route (20.8km)

  • RULES OF THE ROAD APPLY
  • Drafting is strictly forbidden. The ITU and TI rules will be strictly applied and enforced. 
  • Roads will NOT be closed to traffic so care must be taken at all times, especially at junctions along the route. Please listen to marshals/stewards and obey any instructions given.
  • The road surface is good and the route would be regarded as being fast.

The cycle route begins at Transition beside Trim Castle (Opposite Trim Castle Hotel) - Cycle out of Trim with Castle on your left and Garda station on your right to first roundabout (400m) take third exit and continue past fire station to next roundabout (1.1km)- take second exit onto the Longwood road R160. Continue past the golf clubs and at 8km turn LEFT for Rathmolyon R156 - In Rathmolyon village (11.6km) turn LEFT onto R159 - Continue to a staggered junction (Trim/Summerhill Road) and turn LEFT (16.7km) onto R158 .Continue towards Trim and at next roundabout take third exit (19.3km) onto the link road - Cycle past firestation and at next roundabout take first left (20.2km) which will bring you back to the Transition area.

Second Run Section (3km)

The second run course is about 250m less than the first run. This run route will be marked for runners to follow as they exit transition keeping the castle wall on the left hand side. Continue along the pathway between the Castle and the River. Turn right over the footbridge and turn right along the river onto the same route as previous. When coming back over the wooden bridge, turn left and again continue running between the Castle and the river back to the finish area.
